Become A Cyberdreamworker

In ancient Greece, groups gathered at Epidaurous
to invoke dreams with the help of healing snakes.

Today, groups gather in the Asclepian temple of "cyberspace" ( Paltalk ) surrounded by dreamers from around the world. The sites have changed but the tradition remains the same....

Welcome To Cyberdreamwork!!!

All you need to become a Cyberdreamworker and JOIN A GROUP, is an interest in working on dreams.

Cyberdreamwork groups consist of five to six Cyberdreamworkers who gather in real-time, on Paltalk, a FREE internet communication system that is analogous to telephones in our everyday world. Here, in a virtual, private conference room, dreams become the focus of an in-depth exploration into the creative imagination.

In three easy steps, you will be able to partcipate in the first of many Cyberdreamwork experiences.

STEP I - Technical Requirements

To actively participate in a Cyberdreamwork group, you will need to install Paltalk, a voice program, that specifically allows you to set up or enter a private group conference room.

You will also need a microphone and speakers (preferably a head set) which can be plugged into the back of your computer (into your sound card). With *Paltalk you will be able to call and simultaneously communicate with several Cyberdreamworkers, friends and even relatives living in other parts of the country or world.

If you scroll down to: Internet Phone Software you will be able to download Paltalk FOR FREE!!

*[Please note: this program requires the use of a P.C.]

Important information for Mac Users can be found under Internet Phone Software.

STEP II - Join A Cyberdreamwork Group

The easiest way to get started with Cyberdreamwork
is to sample a session with an existing group. All you have to do is enter your request on our registration board, JOIN A GROUP. In addition cyberdreamwork.com provides Cyberdreamcoaches (individuals trained and familiar with cyberdreamwork) to help you get started. E-mail requests are also accepted. Contact us at: webmaster@cyberdreamwork.com

STEP III - Preparing For A Cyberdreamwork Session

To prepare for a cyberdreamwork session, the dreamers along with their designated group coordinator (for e.g. the person who presents the dream or the cyberdreamcoach) exchange e-mail in order to agree on a time for the group to meet. Your coach or coordinator finalizes the time and date of your group and one member ( the designated dreamer ) sends his or her dream as an e-mail message to all members of the group. For greater anonimity, the coach can e-mail the dream to others.

At the designated time you (the dreamworker) turn on your computer, connect to your Internet Service Provider (ISP- ex.; aol.com ) and start Paltalk. Following the instructions sent to you by your cyberdreamcoach or designated coordinator, you will enter a virtual Dreamwork Group.

At that time all equipment will be checked and technical problems addressed. Problems in locating members can be resolved through regular telephone calls, instant messages or e-mail.

Be prepared to spend approximately two hours working in a dreamgroup. The first 30 minutes will be spent checking equipment and getting acquainted. The next hour will be spent working on a selected dream and the last 30 minutes will be spent processing the dreamwork.

THE GROUP BEGINS

1) After initial greetings and technical adjustments, the work begins. The dreamer closes his or her eyes and concentrates on the memory of the dream. With focused attention, and using the present tense, the dreamer carefully recreates the dream as an imagined reality.

2) Dreamworkers listen with equal attention as the dreamworld comes into being.

[In the near future, and under development at this moment, members will be able to observe through an electronic signal ( a biomonitoring device), the emotional responses of a dreamer to the material he or she presents.]

3) After the dream is presented, dreamworkers share their physical and emotional responses to the dream.

4) At this point it is often helpful to hear the dream a second time.

5) Then the dreamer is asked to share any associations and/or identifying information related to the dream. The dreamer is free to respond in whatever way he or she feels comfortable. This places the dream into the personal context of the dreamer.

6) With the help of the coach who paces the session and the dreamer, the group decides how to work on the dream. In most cases the work follows the dream narrative. The guiding principle is to enter the dream where there is least resistance, where the dreamer seems most comfortable.

Now, the questions begin..... The object is to help the dreamer make the dream world as vivid and "real" as possible.

Questions help the dreamer embody and recreate the dream as an imagined reality. This kind of dreamwork allows for a strong emotional, body centered experience that can be quite transformative.

Guide The Deamer By Asking:

*Where the dream is taking place, the dream
   environment.
*Initially, go to the experiences of the dreamer( dream
   ego).
*Help the dreamer anchor and feel the experiences in all
parts of his or her body.
*Then help the dreamer transit into other figures or
objects in the dream. Often this is where opposites
  emerge.
*Lastly, help the dreamer hold all the experiences
at one time. This may mean holding the tension of
two opposing feeling states or like an impressionistic
painting, holding all the colors together. It is in
this holding where transformations can take place.

Helpful Hints:

Here is an example of questions that may help establish the dream world setting of an individual who is driving a car and sees a deer.

* Are you driving fast or slow?
* How do your hands feel on the steering wheel?
* How far away are you from the deer when you notice
   it?
* What are the eyes of the deer like?
* What do you feel in your body when you see the eyes?
* Does this feeling remind you of anything you've ever
   experienced?
* What is the expression in the eyes of the deer?

The next set of questions may help this same dreamer enter into the experience of another character in the dream, in this case, the deer.

* Focus on the expression in the eyes of the deer.
* Slowly sense into this expression.
* Let yourself be absorbed by the energy in the deer's
   eyes.
* What is this like?
* Describe what it is like to see out of these eyes.
* What is it like to be in a body that sees this way?

A guiding principle is to transit into another character or object through an expression, posture, touch, or the most apparent way the dreamer is experiencing the image. The object is to sense what the experience is like from the perspective of "other". A transit is not ego driven. The dreamer does not become the deer. As is evident in the questions, the dreamer is pulled into and absorbed by the energy in the deer's eyes. He or she becomes immersed in the perspective of the deer.

Dreaming,

A Few More Tips To Remember:

* Maintain confidentiality. First names only.
* Select short dreams to work on.
* Slow down and pause after each speaker. Avoid
   rushing.
* When the dreamer talks, everyone listens.
* Always follow the dreamer's experience.
* Change the direction of questions when the dreamer is
   unable to answer.
* Focus on the sensory experience.
* Avoid interpretations.
* Don't interrupt.
* Dreamworkers can call a "time out" at any moment to
discuss the work and how it's going.
* Spend most of your time at the location of the greatest
   emotional intensity.

The object of the work is to return to and explore the reality of the dream world. This is not therapy. It is a careful exploration of the creative imagination.

Cyberdreamwork is a unique and personal endeavor. All members need to help protect the dream space. Any misuse of this work can lead to a decision by the cyberdreamwork members to block offenders from the conference room. (This is a standard feature on all voice programs.)

Important Information for MAC Users

[Note: At present, only P.C. owners can use this system. However, the following information is available to Mac owners...... A cyberdreamer informed us she used her Mac G4 and ran Virtual PC on it. Once Virtual PC was up and running, she was able to operate her Mac as if it were a PC. There are 2 programs that emulate PCs; Virtual PC and SoftWindows. Those interested will need a newer Mac - an iMac or a G3 or better. The Virtual PC website is www.connectix.com This website will be able to tell you more about the technology.]
