Cyberdreamwork Guidelines
What You Need To Know

Welcome To Cyberdreamwork, a dreamwork group in
cyberspace!

Cyberdreamwork groups are based on the close affinity
between the dream world and cyberspace. A
cyberdreamwork group consists of three to five
participants who gather on the internet in a private
conference room of a voice program. Here dreams
become the focus of an in-depth exploration into
the creative imagination.

To join a cyberdreamwork group and simultaneously
communicate with other dreamworkers, you will need to
install a voice program. Voice programs are analogous
to telephones in our everyday world. A voice program
will allow you to set up an Internet telephone on
your computer. You will also need a microphone
(preferably a head set) which can be plugged into
the back of your computer (into your sound card). With
Firetalk or Video VoxPhone Gold you will be able
to call dreamworkers and even friends or relatives living
in other parts of the country or world. On VoxPhone Gold,
new live-motion video gives you the ability to actually
see the person you are talking with if he or she installs
a video camera.

If you scroll down to: Internet Phone Software you will find
information about downloading Firetalk FOR FREE!!
or purchasing Video VoxPhone Gold and downloading
this program for a 30 day free home trial.

Joining A Cyberdreamwork Group

A cyberdreamwork group consists of 3 to 5 people.
We are using a form of dreamwork that explores the dream
as a shared world. By asking the dreamer questions that
focus on his or her perceptual experience, we create a
shared emotional experience that can be extemely
transformative.

Perhaps the easiest way to get started with
cyberdreamwork would be to sample a session with an
existing group ( at present we are just forming these
groups so there is likely to be a waiting period).
Upon request cyberdreamwork.com can provide a
Cyberdreamcoach (an individual trained and familiar with
cyberdreamwork) to help you get started. Simply e-mail us
at: webmaster@cyberdreamwork.com

Cyberdreamcoaches enter: Cyberdreamcoaches

Another way to join a cyberdreamwork group is to enter
Match Board. Match Board can also be accessed by
way of the site outline. Just click Match Board under guidelines.

Preparing For A Cyberdreamwork Session

To prepare for a cyberdreamwork session, the dreamers
along with their coach ( or a participant designated
as the group coordinator for the session, e.g. the person
who presents the dream) exchange e-mail in order to agree
on a time for the group to meet. Your coach or
coordinator will finalize the time and date of your group.
One member ( the designated dreamer ) will then send his
or her dream as an e-mail message to all members of the
group. For greater anonimity, the coach can e-mail the
dream to others. If more than one dream requires attention
the group may agree on additional sessions to be held at
a future date.

At the designated time you simply turn on your computer,
connect to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and start
your voice program. Within minutes your
cyberdreamcoach or designated coordinator
will call each participant and help you enter a virtual
conference room. This is similar to the process of
"connecting" to a dream as you enter a different reality.

At that time all equipment will be checked and technical
problems addressed. Problems in locating members can be
resolved through regular telephone calls or e-mail
messages.

Be prepared to spend approximately 60 minutes working
on a selected dream. The first 15 minutes will be spent
checking equipment and getting acquainted. The next forty
five minutes will be spent working on and processing the
dreamwork.

The Group Begins

1) After initial greetings, the dreamer closes his or her eyes
and concentrates on the memory of the dream. With
focused intention, the dreamer carefully recreates the
dream as an imagined reality.

2) The dreamworkers listen with equal attention as the
dream world comes into being.

In the near future, and under development at this moment,
members will be able to observe through an electronic
signal ( a biomonitoring device), the emotional responses
of a dreamer to the material he or she presents.

3) After the dream is presented, the dreamworkers share
their physical and emotional responses. They ask the
dreamer for associations and/or any identifying information
related to the dream. The dreamer is free to respond in
whatever way he or she feels comfortable. This places the
dream into the personal context of the dreamer.

4) Then, with the help of the coach, the dreamer and
dreamworkers decide on how to work on the dream. Where
is the most comfortable place to enter the dream? Where
does the greatest emotional intensity lie?

The questions now begin..... The object is to help the
dreamer make the dream world as vivid and "real" as
possible
.

Guidelines For The Questioning Process:

Here is an example of questions that may help establish
the dream world setting of an individual who is driving
a car and sees a deer.

* Are you driving fast or slow?
* How do your hands feel on the steering wheel?
* How far away are you from the deer when you notice it?
* What are the eyes of the deer like?
* What do you feel in your body when you see the eyes?
* Does this feeling remind you of anything you've ever
   experienced?
* What is the expression in the eyes of the deer?

The following questions may help this same dreamer enter
into the experience of another character in the dream, in
this case, the deer.

* Focus on the expression in the eyes of the deer.
Can you feel into the expression of the deer?
* Can you let yourself be absorbed by the feeling the deer
  expresses?
* What is it like to feel this way?
* What do you feel in your body?
* What images emerge at this moment?

Dreaming,
Robert Bosnak, 1997, Dell Publishing.

A Few More Tips To Remember:

* Maintain confidentiality. First names only.
* Select short dreams to work on.
* Present dreams in the present tense.
* Slow down and pause after each speaker. Avoid rushing.
* When the dreamer talks, everyone listens.
* Always follow the dreamer's experience.
* Change the direction of questions when the dreamer is
  unable to answer.
* Focus on the sensory experience. Avoid interpretations.
* Don't interrupt.
* Dreamworkers can call a "time out" at any moment to
discuss the work and how it's going.
* Spend most of your time at the location of the greatest
  emotional intensity.

The object of the work is to return to and explore the reality
of the dream world. This is not therapy. It is a careful
exploration of the creative imagination.

Cyberdreamwork is a unique and personal endeavor. All
members need to help protect the dream space. Any
misuse of this work can lead to a decision by the
cyberdreamwork members to block offenders from the
conference room. (This is a standard feature on all
voice programs.)
