Paltalk
What is Paltalk?
Paltalk hosts the live, on-line, voice operated,
Cyberdreamwork Groups that take place at:
cyberdreamwork.com
Paltalk is an Internet-based voice communication service
that is analogous to your home telephone. Using a PC (with
speakers and a microphone or headset) and only a 28k
dial-up connection, Paltalk allows you to speak with others
anywhere in the world. It provides unlimited conference
calling, file tranfer, instant messaging, voice mail, and unique
to Paltalk, a Video Conferencing feature allows you
to talk with as well as see others. You and fellow
dreamworkers can arrange online voice meetings and
video sessions to work on dreams.
Paltalk has three versions:
Paltalk Basic Version, Paltalk Plus Six and Paltalk Extreme
It is important to note that participants in a group
can use any version. The choice is yours. Just
check to make sure your computer meets the system
requirements for the version you install.
Paltalk's basic version is the free subscription service
that provides standard voice quality for PC-to-PC
two-party calls, conference/group calls and video
conferencing. Paltalk's basic version contains banner advertising.
The PC-to-PC communications technology lets you speak
long-distance for free, nationwide or internationally.

How We Use Paltalk
At cyberdreamwork.com we use Paltalk in
4 specific ways.
A. Person to Person - To make the first of many
person to person, worldwide calls to contact dreamers
who want to work together, download Paltalk, and
then send your fellow dreamer an invite to join
you for a dreamwork session. When the acceptance is
received and you decide on a time to meet, (this can be
done via Paltalk and by e-mail) call your partner from your
Online Pals List and begin your session.
B. Groups - Cyberdreamwork Groups consist of five
or more dreamworkers who work on the dream of
a fellow participant.
1. Log on to the internet via your ISP (for ex.; aol), Cable or DSL connection.
2. Connect to Paltalk.
3. Click the "Chat Rooms" button located in the
left hand corner of the main Paltalk window.
4. In the list of "Rooms":
Click on the name "Health Related and Body."
5. Click on "Other".
6. Click on Cyberdreamwork Hall
7. Please note the Password to enter is case sensitive and located on the bottom right.
8. Click on the "Join" button in lower left corner.
Your name will then appear in the Participant list in
the Paltalk Group Room.
8. You can now relax and take part in your group.
9. To participate in discussions during the group,
you can always type into the rectangular area under
the large "Text" window of the Paltalk Group
Room and press "Enter" on your computer
keyboard. To use your mic simply click on "Ctrl" button on your computer keyboard and release it to hear the response.
Emergency Situations:
1. If you are having trouble connecting to Paltalk, their
server may be down. To check if this is the problem, note on
the bottom left of the Paltalk panel there is a GREEN light. If
that light turns RED it means you are not connected to the
Paltalk Server
2. If your ISP (ex., aol, etc) disconnects you from the
internet while attending your group, close down Paltalk
and proceed again by reconnecting to your
ISP and then Paltalk. You can reenter the Group as
indicated in the directions above. If problems persist
you can also check your Internet connection by clicking
on Setup/Preferences/Test Connection.
FOR BEGINNERS
If you are a beginner and are not familiar with Paltalk
carefully read the following instructions:
1) Ideally, if you are downloading your Paltalk
software for the first time, do this a few days before
an Internet Workshop so you can test your microphone
or headset and make your first call on Paltalk.
2) Then, using your new software familiarize yourself with the Paltalk features you'll be
accessing by returning to the directions for entering your group.
C. Video Calls and Conferencing - This feature is new to
www. cyberdreamwork.com If the user you want to communicate with is on your pal-list, you can
right click on the name, highlighting it and select "send IM".
Then select "activate voice" and start your video cam.
D. CyberAcademy Workshops, Lectures and the Online EI -
meet on Paltalk in a virtual conference room. Our Embodied Imagination Institute's
"permanent" room is listed under the Health Related and Body/Other category.
